STANDARD OF PRACTICE PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT AND CODE OF ETHICS
Speech and Language Pathologists/Therapists (SLP/SLT) are committed to provide optimum service to the people with communication, swallowing and feeding difficulties. The roles and responsibilities of a SLP/SLT include, conducting assessments, diagnosing, planning intervention, collaboration, advocacy, raising awareness within the community, supervision, mentoring and research. Sri Lankan Association of Speech and Language Pathologists, as the professional body of the country, present this standard of practice, code of ethics and professional conduct as a guide, and a framework for the SLP/SLTs working in Sri Lanka to support SLP/SLPs when making professional decisions.
Though, it may not intend to address all possible ethical dilemmas that a clinician may come across in their practice, SLP/SLTs are encouraged to adhere to the presenting standard of practice, code of ethics and professional conduct in all professional interactions to build a responsible Speech and Language Pathology/Therapy community.
